Port Tobacco Players (PTP) produces 6 to 7 shows each season for presentation at the theater. The typical season consists of a mixture of musicals, comedies, dramas and mysteries. Past performances have included such shows as Seussical, A Christmas Carol, The Foreigner, Stalag 17, Annie, All My Sons, Gypsy, Getting Away With Murder, and Guys and Dolls. Participation is open to all members of the community with auditions held three to four months prior to each production.
PTP also has a kids' group, ages 6-12, known as Encore Kids that performs at community events, the Charles County Fair, nursing homes, schools and to raise money for charity. Participation in Encore Kids is also an excellent opportunity for young people to learn theater skills and gain experience while honing their musical and acting abilities. The Charles County Youth Orchestra is an organization for the more serious musicians in grades 6 through 12 who are seeking an outlet for their talents. The orchestra performs concerts in the theater as well as special performances in the community. |
