Leslie is an amateur/pro-photographer who has taken photographs with a passion since the early eighties, when she recieved her first camera as a gift. It was a Canon AE-1, and it rocked her world, but it would be years before she began to really explore her passion. She believes God gives us all gifts that we should use to help others as well as ourselves. Her goal is to finish her education and start up her own web site in the future, but for now this is her hobby and she hopes to get her name out there by demonstrating the many beautiful moments she has been fortunate to document with her photography. She especially loves to chase sunsets like the storm chasers chase storms.
Leslie is a long time member of the St. Mary's Camera Club, which began in 1998. She is one of the original members who has seen it grow leaps and bounds in projects, events, and ideas, not to mention beautiful works by members. She highly recommends it to anyone interested in photography as a novice or professional. "You can't have too many friends, or learn too much," she says. Leslie's work has been published on the cover of the Verizon Phone Book after being included in a calendar by the Economic And Business Development Division for Calvert County from a photo contest they held, with the same photo a few years earlier. She is in the process of copyrighting all photos before she begins selling on her own website, however, "we all know that we are copyright p rotected for awhile after publication." She has worked for a portrait studio, and taken two classes in photography (B&W, and Color) at two colleges in the area, for which she received credit. "Although it was very rewarding to be able to take the classes, and I learned alot, we are so digitalized now that I'm having to re-learn much of what I wasn't able to learn then, and then some." Leslie hopes to be the photographer that continues to take the photos while she employs someone else to do the office/technical duties that come with running a successful business. |
