Joanna Macaulay has been taking amateur photographs since 1981, when she purchased her first serious SLR camera. She began her career as a travel consultant in Pennsylvania, before becoming a librarian in Pennsylvania and St. Mary's County, MD. She and her husband, Jim, cofounded the St. Mary's County Camera Club in 1998 in an effort to promote the art of photography as a hobby. Watching club members improve and share friendships has been a joy. Serving as the Meetings Chairperson and the President of the club for 2 years each, she sometimes lectured for the club.
Along with her husband, she produced professional quality multimedia slide shows entitled "I am Hawaii", "Islands", and "Tyler Arboretum", that have been shared with audiences in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Joanna and Jim photographed events, travel and nature for many years. They have both been Adult Grand Champion photography winners at the St. Mary's County Fair, and Joanna won the Advanced Digital Photo of the Year in the St. Mary's County Camera Club with her photo "Sexy Dragonflies" in 2009. Joanna's photos have been on display at the Lexington Park Library Art Gallery, the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center, and St. Mary's Hospital. Joanna began work as a professional photographer in 2009. Her business, Calm Reflections Photography, shares beautiful photographs that can be placed on mugs, mouse pads, canvas, puzzles, T-shirts, coasters and prints. Joanna Macaulay makes souvenirs of St. Mary’s County for tourists and local residents. Purchases may be made at Joanna's sales website, and you are invited to visit her blog as well. |
