Award winning watercolorist Carl Wood draws his inspiration from the water – lakes, rivers, bays and oceans – where he has spent most of his life. His work is deeply intimate allowing the viewer to share a subtly altered personal reality that captures the beauty of reflective light from sky and water. This spiritual quality, captured uniquely by the properties of watercolor, is influenced by Donald Holden and Nick Simmons.
His professional training includes drawing, oil painting and watercolor with Gwen Bragg and Susan Herron at The Art League School in Alexandra, VA, workshops with Nick Simmons and design at the International Institute of Interior Design in Washington D.C. Mr. Wood currently lives on the Chesapeake Bay in Solomons Island, Maryland. Along with private collections, his work is being shown at Maryland and CalvArt Gallery in Prince Frederick, Maryland and Annemarie Garden in Solomons Island |
