Describing it as a cross between "Dancing With The Stars" meets "The Biggest Loser", Donna Jordan laughs as she explains the concept of a new reality show to be filmed at The House of Dance in Hollywood, MD. "Our vision is to show how ordinary people can improve their health and vitality through dance. With that in mind, we have created a competition that will pair non-dancers with professional instructors and follow their progress as they compete in a 12-week program." The program titled "Shall We Dance?" will air on Thursday nights at 7:30pm on Channel 10 beginning in April. The program will re-air several times throughout the week.
A first for Southern Maryland, this reality show will not only introduce viewers to the fitness benefits, but also the fun of ballroom and swing dance. Each week the couples will learn a new dance style which they will perform during the weekly taping of the program. They will be awarded points for their performance and at the end of the twelve weeks, based on scoring, a winner will be determined. "It will be fun watching the improvement of the couples as they progress through the twelve weeks," said Donna Jordan, owner of The House of Dance.
Any St. Mary's county resident who is interested in being considered as a contestant should send an email to Donna@theHouseOfDance.org with their name, address, email and phone number. They should also include a brief description of why they are interested in being a contestant on "Shall We Dance?" as well as listing any prior dance experience.
