Lost Landmarks kicks off Thursday, September 15
Enjoy PEM Talks at the Calvert Marine Museum with thoughtful discourse on Paleontology, the Environment, and Maritime History, the three themes covered by the museum’s exhibits. The 2011-2012 PEM Talks focus on Lost Landmarks, the ‘bones’ of the past that lie hidden all around us. Learn to look with new eyes at the places you pass by every day and better understand how the past informs our lives today. All PEM Talks are free and open to the public.
Joan Gott and Elaine Dunkle will present One Room Schools on Thursday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the museum auditorium. The irrepressible Joan Gott will share her experiences as a young bride and new teacher coming to a very different Calvert County over 50 years ago. She will be joined by Elaine Dunkle, one of the original group of retired teachers who undertook the preservation and renovation of the One Room Schoolhouse. See the important role one room school houses played in the community. Free.
