July Raku Party!
July 22, 5- 9 pm
Grab your spouse, a friend, or your son or daughter and join us for a Raku Party! Learn about this unique and dramatic firing process as you glaze two bisque tiles and a small platter, and then fire them in a pit outside. Each couple comes away with three completed pieces. Adult couples or parent/child couples welcome. Children must be 8-up and must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $80/couple; Members $70/couple; all materials included. Instructor: Ray Bogle
Ceramic Tile-Making Workshop
July 23-24, 10am-3pm both days
Spend a weekend with local tile artist Parran Collery exploring several techniques and methods for creating relief sculpted tiles in clay. Students will have the opportunity to create several pieces around a theme that is meaningful to them. Design issues, including form, texture, and color will be addressed. Open to all skill levels. Pottery Bootcamp w/Alternative Firing
Aug 1 -27 (6-class series; various dates and times, see schedule in description)
Learn to use the potter's wheel or hone your wheel-throwing skills in this 6-class series. Detailed instruction will be provided, covering raku firing and pit-firing techniques. Students can expect to produce up to 15 wheel-thrown pieces. Cost: $260/ Members $245, plus materials fee. Pottery Basics & More
Aug 31- Oct 5, Wednesdays, 6:30 -9:30pm (8 class series)
Learn a comprehensive skill set for working in clay. Beginners will learn how to make simple forms on the wheels as well as slab construction techniques. Students with experience will work on more advanced projects. Each student comes away with an assortment of pottery that is safe for dishwasher, oven and microwave. Last class ends with a raku firing. Additional open studio days will be held on Sept. 10 and Sept 24, 10am-4pm. No extra cost. Already take this series? Join us again and use it as open studio time. Intro to Stained Glass
Choose from 2 sessions: June 25, 12pm-4pm OR August 28, 12pm – 4pm
Learn the fundamentals behind stained glass art as we explore the copper foil technique. Learn to cut, shape and grind glass, as well as foiling and soldering techniques to make a small suncatcher for your window. Cost: $45/ Members $35. All materials provided. Instructor: Leza Hepler.
Intro to Glass Beadmaking August Session

Learn basic lampwork techniques to create your own stunning glass beads. Using a hothead torch, learn to pull a variety of "stringers" to form basic round beads with various surface decorations. Stained Glass: Next Steps
August 10 -September 7, Wednesdays, 6pm- 9pm
Continue refining your stained glass skills in this 5-part series. Choose from a broad variety of projects and create a 20-30 piece suncatcher/ panel using the copper foil technique. Must take the Intro to Stained Glass class first. This series is great to take again and again--just choose a different project each time! Materials fee dependent upon your glass choices. Rag Time! The Art of the Rag Rug
Choose from 2 sessions: June 25, 11am–2pm OR August 14, 11am- 2pm
Make a unique crocheted rug with fabric strips from those old skirts, sheets, tablecloths, etc. Let's chat and have fun as we prepare the fabric and start to crochet a rug. Students should know basic crochet stitch so you can begin making your rug in an hour or less! Great for teens, adults, men or women. Cost: $55/ Members $45.

Spiral Stitch Bracelets
Choose from 2 sessions: June 19, 12pm- 4pm OR July 16, 12pm -4pm
Learn this versatile stitch that can be used to make a bracelet or a necklace to hang a large pendant. It can be made with any size beads in a variety of ways while remaining simple to learn and create. BYOB--Bring your own beads! Materials fee covers clasps and wire/string. Sea Glass Jewelry

Create a beautiful pendant and matching earrings with sea glass found on local southern Maryland beaches. Students will learn quick, easy assembly techniques to incorporate sea glass and beachy found objects into fun, creative summer jewelry. Painting in a Series: Getting Started

Painting in a series allows artists to fully explore a subject using different techniques and perspectives. Let’s look at artists who have painted in a series, learn how they conquered their subjects, and identify a subject of our own. As we work on our own series of 4 or 5 paintings, different techniques will be demonstrated to help add to the visual interest and narrative of your series. Cost: $135/ Members $125. Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, conveniently located at 13480 Dowell Road, just off Route 2-4, is one of the region’s most unique cultural assets. Annmarie hosts some of southern Maryland’s best-loved events and on a daily basis; the garden is a great place to visit for all ages. The sculpture garden has a paved path this is perfect for enjoying art and nature, taking a walk, or riding a bike, and throughout the sculpture garden, visitors will find more than forty-five works of sculpture on loan from the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art. In the beautiful Arts Building, visitors can always find an interesting exhibit, daily activities, and the Gift Shop.
